EDO SUMMONED: The LHC has directed the Gujrat executive district officer (EDO) to appear before the court on February 10, in a petition filed by one Shafqat Hussain against the revenue officials.
The petitioner contended that the respondent revenue officials are curtailing their lands on the pretext of consolidation, and also transferring the same to those who did not own any piece of land in the village. He also contended that the respondent revenue officials are consolidating the land illegally and without lawful authority.
He, therefore, prayed to the court to direct the respondent officials to act in accordance with the law and abstain from transferring their lands. The court, after hearing the petitioner's counsel at length, issued notice to the EDO Gujrat.
